Czech Republic Visa From the UAE: A Schengen Guide

The Czech Republic is one of the most visited countries in the Schengen area, drawing UAE residents with Prague’s historic centre, Bohemian castles and easy onward travel across Central Europe. Because the Czech Republic is a full Schengen member, a Czech visa allows entry to all 29 countries in the Schengen area for a single short trip. This guide covers what UAE residents need for a tourist, business, family visit or nanny visa application, known as a C type Schengen visa.

Who Needs a Czech Republic Schengen Visa

Most non UAE nationals residing in the UAE, and citizens of countries without a visa waiver agreement with the Schengen area, need a visa to enter the Czech Republic for stays of up to 90 days in any 180 day period. This applies whether the visit is for tourism, business meetings, visiting family, or travelling with a nanny or domestic worker on a family trip. UAE nationals and residents holding a passport from a visa exempt country do not need this visa for short stays, but should still confirm their specific requirement with the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs before booking travel.

Where UAE Residents Apply

Applications for a Czech Republic Schengen visa from the UAE are submitted through the VFS Global Visa Application Centre in Dubai, which handles submissions on behalf of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Appointments must be booked online through the official VFS Global portal, as walk in applications are not accepted. Applicants should note that bookings cannot usually be made more than six months before the intended travel date, and that all applicants, including children, must attend in person to provide biometric data unless they qualify for an exemption from a recent prior submission.

Documents UAE Applicants Typically Need

• A valid passport with at least two blank pages and validity extending three months beyond the planned departure from the Schengen area
• A completed and signed Schengen visa application form
• A recent passport sized photograph meeting Schengen photo specifications

Visa Fee

The standard Schengen short stay visa fee is EUR 90 for adult applicants, a rate set across all Schengen states under the Schengen Visa Code and confirmed by the European Commission’s Migration and Home Affairs department. Reduced or waived fees may apply to children, depending on their age, under the same Visa Code rules. VFS Global also charges a separate service fee for handling the application in the UAE, which is payable locally at the application centre.

Applying well ahead of travel, particularly during the summer and winter holiday peaks, gives the consulate more room to request additional documents if needed without affecting travel plans.

Booking Tips for UAE Applicants

Slots at the Dubai application centre can fill up quickly during peak season, so booking an appointment three to six weeks before the planned submission date is a reasonable approach. Arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled appointment time, and expect the in person visit to take between 45 and 90 minutes once biometrics and document checks are included. Applicants can track their application status afterward through the VFS Global online tracking system linked to their reference number.

Family, Business and Domestic Worker Applications

Family visit applications should include a formal invitation letter and proof of the relationship, such as a marriage or birth certificate, alongside the host’s residence and financial documents. Business applicants need a clear letter of invitation describing the purpose and duration of the trip. Where a nanny or domestic worker is travelling as part of a family group, consulates generally expect a letter from the sponsoring family and evidence that the worker will return to the UAE at the end of the trip, in addition to the standard documents listed above.
