Booking one for a spouse, children and sometimes elderly parents at the same time takes more, because visa application centres do not automatically group family members together unless you tell them to. Applying as a Family Still Means Separate Applications

Every Schengen visa applicant, including infants, needs their own application form, own set of documents and own visa fee, even when the whole family is travelling together on the same trip. Both VFS Global and BLS International only accept bookings through their own official portals for the consulate you are applying to; appointments cannot be arranged by phone, email or in person at the centre. If a batch of slots does not include enough consecutive openings for your whole household, it is usually better to secure any available slots within the same week rather than waiting for a perfect back to back match, since further batches are not released on a fixed schedule.

What to Expect Once You Are Booked

Once the family’s appointments are confirmed, each applicant, or a parent on behalf of a minor, still needs to attend in person with their own document set. Processing itself follows the same legal timeline for every applicant regardless of whether they applied individually or as part of a family booking: embassies usually decide within 15 calendar days of submission, as set by the Schengen Visa Code, and some cases take longer.
