Urgent Slovakia Visa Appointment: UAE Applicant Guide

Slovakia is the one Schengen country in the Emirates where we would tell you to phone before relying on anything published, including this page. Its visa intake is changing hands from BLS International to VFS Global, and the outgoing provider currently shows submissions suspended. If you need an urgent Slovakia appointment, the first job is establishing where applications are actually being taken this week.

Which Visa Application Centre Handles Slovakia Cases in the UAE

Both, at the moment, and neither cleanly. The Slovak embassy in Abu Dhabi names BLS International and VFS Global on the same page. VFS won a five year global mandate for Slovak visas in November 2025, rolling out from January 2026, with the UAE among the markets expected to carry most of the volume. Meanwhile the BLS UAE site says the Abu Dhabi centre has been temporarily relocated to Tamouh Tower on Al Reem Island, and separately that as per instructions from the embassy all visa submission appointments are postponed until further notice. Its own contact page gives a different Abu Dhabi address again.

The embassy will accept applications directly, but only in cases of special consideration, and it warns of a wait of several weeks on that route.

Legitimate Ways to Get Seen Sooner

Confirm the Current Submission Point Before Anything Else

During a provider handover this is not optional housekeeping, it is the fastest thing you can do. Trade coverage of the VFS contract described existing Slovak appointment waits in the UAE running to about six weeks, expected to fall to three to five days once VFS counters open. Knowing which door is open decides whether you are facing days or weeks.

Check the Main Destination Test Before You Book

Slovakia’s checklist states that the visa application will not be accepted unless the main destination is Slovakia. Not refused after examination, not accepted. Most missions assess this at decision stage; Slovakia turns files away at intake. If your itinerary is mostly Vienna or Prague with a couple of nights in Bratislava, an urgent appointment achieves nothing.

Monitor for Cancellations and Search Flexible Dates

Where a booking calendar is running, returned slots go back into it unannounced, and widening to any date within a two or three week window finds openings a fixed date search misses.

Do Not Budget From the Legacy Fee Table

The VFS Slovakia UAE one pager shows AED 325 with no euro figure, alongside a checklist stamped December 2022. AED 325 corresponds to the old EUR 80 fee superseded on 11 June 2024. BLS publishes the correct EUR 90 or AED 380, with a service fee of AED 70.71 including VAT, in cash only. Arriving with the wrong amount in cash costs you the appointment.

Documented Compelling or Emergency Reasons

Genuine medical, bereavement or urgent business grounds with evidence can be raised with the embassy. Nobody can guarantee a result.

An Earlier Appointment Does Not Mean a Faster Decision

Slovakia’s processing time is stated three different ways across its own material: the embassy says fifteen calendar days extendable to forty five, the BLS tourism page says up to fifteen working days extendable to forty five working days, and the BLS homepage says fifteen calendar days extendable to thirty. The embassy’s figure matches the Visa Code and is the one to plan against.

The context on outcomes is worth knowing. Slovakia refuses 9.6% of applications worldwide but 31.5% at its Abu Dhabi post, on the European Commission’s 2025 figures, a more than threefold divergence. Slovak policy does not change by country, so that gap is the applicant mix here, and it is almost certainly why the counter level main destination test exists.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I submit a Slovakia visa application in the UAE right now?

This is genuinely in flux. The embassy names both BLS International and VFS Global, VFS is rolling out a new global Slovak mandate from January 2026, and BLS currently shows submissions postponed until further notice while listing two different Abu Dhabi addresses. Confirm by phone before making other arrangements.

Will Slovakia accept my file if I am visiting other countries too?

It may not. Slovakia’s checklist states the application will not be accepted unless the main destination is Slovakia, which is a counter level test rather than a decision stage one.

How long does Slovakia take to decide once the application is submitted?

Fifteen calendar days from the embassy receiving a complete file, extendable to forty five. Three different figures circulate on the centre’s pages; the embassy’s matches the Visa Code.
