Urgent Romania Visa Appointment: UAE Applicant Guide

Romania works differently from every VFS run country in the Emirates, and the difference decides how fast you can get seen. There is no visa application centre and no booking calendar to refresh. The appointment is granted only after your online application has been submitted and validated, so the way to get an early date is to get the online file right, not to hunt for slots.

Which Visa Application Centre Handles Romania Cases in the UAE

None that we could find. There is no VFS Romania UAE page, no BLS or TLScontact presence for Romania, and the ministry’s own online visa FAQ describes the process as ending at the Romanian diplomatic mission or consular post. Romania keeps an embassy in Abu Dhabi and a Consulate General in Dubai, and the European Commission’s 2025 statistics record a single Romanian UAE row, at Dubai, so Dubai is the deciding post.

We would rather mark that as good evidence than certainty: it rests on the absence of any centre rather than a Romanian statement that there is none, and Romania’s own consular pages were unreachable throughout our checks. Confirm the submission point by phone before travelling to it.

Legitimate Ways to Get Seen Sooner

Get the Online Application Through Validation First

This is the whole game on a Romanian application. The appointment is granted after the online file validates, not before, so a file that bounces back for correction costs you your place. Complete it carefully the first time.

Keep Uploads Under 2MB

The portal caps uploads at 2MB per file, in jpeg, jpg, tif, png, bmp, txt, rtf or pdf. Anyone scanning a passport at high resolution hits that ceiling and has to re-scan, which is a pointless day lost when you are in a hurry. Scan at moderate resolution from the start.

Ignore the Three Month Rule on Romania’s Own FAQ

Romania’s eViza FAQ still says short stay applications may be submitted no longer than three months in advance. That is legacy text from before accession. The Visa Code allows applications up to six months before travel, and no later than fifteen days before. Applicants who follow the FAQ literally delay an application they could already have made, which is the opposite of urgent.

Be Ready for an Interview Rather Than a Counter Visit

Romania’s FAQ refers to an interview rather than a biometrics appointment, which suggests a more personal consular process than the VFS routine. Plan your availability accordingly.

Documented Compelling or Emergency Reasons

Genuine medical, bereavement or urgent business grounds with evidence can be raised with the consulate. Nobody can guarantee a result.

An Earlier Appointment Does Not Mean a Faster Decision

Romania became a full Schengen member on 1 January 2025, having lost air and sea controls on 31 March 2024, so the Visa Code standard applies: fifteen calendar days, extendable to forty five. Romania’s own FAQ instead advises submitting at least three weeks before travel and warns that visas cannot be guaranteed when applications are submitted very close to the travel date.

The good news on outcomes. Romania’s Dubai post refused just 14.5% of applications in 2025 on the European Commission’s own figures, against a UAE average of 23.9%, and issued about 59% of its visas as multiple entry. A well documented applicant whose trip really is to Romania is in genuinely good shape.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a VFS centre for Romania in the UAE?

We found no evidence of one. There is no VFS Romania UAE page and no BLS or TLScontact presence, and Romania’s own FAQ describes submission at the diplomatic mission. Confirm before you travel there.

How early can I apply for a Romania visa?

Six months before travel under the Visa Code, and no later than fifteen days before. Romania’s own FAQ still says three months maximum, which is out of date since accession.

How long does Romania take to decide once the application is submitted?

Fifteen calendar days as the Schengen standard, extendable to forty five. Romania separately advises submitting at least three weeks before travel.
