Urgent Lithuania Visa Appointment: UAE Applicant Guide

Lithuania takes very few applications from the UAE, 285 in the whole of 2025, so appointment scarcity is rarely the obstacle. What catches applicants out is a mandatory online system most have never heard of, and an embassy that reserves the right to call you to Abu Dhabi for an interview at short notice.

Which Visa Application Centre Handles Lithuania Cases in the UAE

VFS Global has handled Lithuania’s UAE intake since August 2020, with centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The embassy is unusually clear about what happens where: it states that in the United Arab Emirates the examination of applications, interviews where appropriate, the decision on applications and the printing and affixing of visa stickers are carried out only by the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Abu Dhabi. There is no Lithuanian consulate in Dubai, and the VFS centre is an intake point rather than a decision point.

The embassy is also a regional post, accredited additionally to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar and Iraq, so the decision queue is not a UAE queue.

Legitimate Ways to Search for an Earlier Slot

Complete the Online Registration First

Lithuania requires the application to be completed on the Lithuanian migration system before you attend VFS. This is not a generic Schengen step, and applicants who arrive with only a paper form get turned away. Doing this first is what makes an early slot usable rather than wasted.

Monitor for Cancellations and New Openings

Returned slots go back into the calendar without notice. Checking at different times over several days is the only reliable way to catch them.

Search Flexible Dates and Both Centres

No rule allocates applicants to one city by emirate of residence, so treat Dubai and Abu Dhabi as a single pool and widen the search to any date within a two or three week window.

Keep the Interview Possibility in Your Plan

The embassy may summon an applicant to an in person interview in Abu Dhabi at its discretion, notified by email. Most Schengen posts here do not do this routinely. If you are working to a tight deadline, build a spare day into the plan rather than assuming submission is the last time you need to be available.

Documented Compelling or Emergency Reasons

Genuine medical, bereavement or urgent business grounds with evidence can be raised with the embassy. Nobody can guarantee a result.

An Earlier Appointment Does Not Mean a Faster Decision

Fifteen calendar days from submission, extendable to forty five where additional scrutiny is required. The embassy and VFS agree on this figure, which is not something you can say for every mission in the Emirates. Applications are accepted no earlier than six months and no later than fifteen days before travel.

On outcomes, Lithuania refused 21.9% of its UAE applications in 2025 on the European Commission’s own figures, slightly better than the UAE average of 23.9%, and about 45% of the visas it issued were multiple entry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to register online before my Lithuania appointment?

Yes. The application must be completed on the Lithuanian migration system before you attend VFS. Turning up with only a paper form does not work.

Will I be called for an interview?

You may be. The embassy may summon an applicant to an in person interview in Abu Dhabi at its discretion and notifies by email, which for a Dubai resident means a trip at short notice.

How long does Lithuania take to decide once the application is submitted?

Fifteen calendar days, extendable to forty five where more scrutiny is needed. Apply no earlier than six months and no later than fifteen days before travel.
