Schengen Visa for Eid and Spring Break 2027 From UAE

If you want to spend Eid al-Fitr or the spring break of 2027 in Europe, your Schengen application window is already open or opens on 3 October 2026. Eid al-Fitr is expected around 9 to 12 March 2027, Easter falls on 28 March, and UAE schools break from 5 to 11 April. The earlier you lodge, the more appointment dates you have to choose from, and the more room you leave for a decision before you fly.
The spring 2027 dates at a glance
| Break | Expected dates | Typical departure |
|---|---|---|
| Eid al-Fitr | Tuesday 9 to Thursday 11 March, or 10 to 12 March if Ramadan lasts 30 days | Saturday 6 March |
| Easter weekend in Europe | Friday 26 to Monday 29 March | Thursday 25 March |
| UAE school spring break | Monday 5 to Sunday 11 April, classes resume 12 April | Saturday 3 April |
Eid dates are estimates from the UAE’s Astronomy Centre until the moon is sighted. School dates come from the 2026-27 calendar that Dubai private schools follow. Check your own school’s calendar before you book leave.
Your Schengen application window for each break
The Schengen rules let you lodge an application no earlier than six months before your trip and no later than 15 days before it. Consulates usually decide within 15 days, and that can extend to 45 days when they need more documents.
| Departure | Window opens | We suggest lodging by | Last possible lodging date |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 March 2027 (Eid al-Fitr) | 6 September 2026, already open | 25 January 2027 | 19 February 2027 |
| 25 March 2027 (Easter) | 25 September 2026 | 10 February 2027 | 10 March 2027 |
| 3 April 2027 (spring break) | 3 October 2026 | 20 February 2027 | 19 March 2027 |
The suggested dates allow for two things the official rule does not: finding an appointment at a busy time of year, and the possibility of a longer decision period. Lodging at the last possible date leaves no room for a request for extra documents.
Why spring is harder than it looks
- Ramadan changes working patterns. Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February 2027. Visa centres and consulates may adjust their hours, so check the notice for your centre before you plan a February appointment.
- Everyone chases the same few weeks. Eid, Easter and the school break fall within five weeks of each other, so families and workers compete for the same appointment dates in January and February.
- Consulates close for Easter. Many European missions observe Good Friday and Easter Monday, which removes working days in late March.
- Documents take time. A leave letter, a consent letter for a child travelling with one parent, and three to six months of bank statements all need preparing before the appointment, not on the day.
Which country do you apply to?
You apply to the country where you will spend the most nights. If the nights are equal, you apply to the country you enter first. Choosing a country only because it has earlier appointments is visa shopping, and consulates refuse applications for it. Our guide to choosing the right Schengen country explains the rule with examples.
Popular spring routes from the UAE include the Netherlands for the tulip season, Italy and Spain for Easter, and Switzerland and Austria for late snow. See our country guides for the Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
A simple plan, working backwards
- October to November 2026: decide your main destination and dates, request leave, and check your passport has at least three months’ validity beyond your return and two blank pages.
- November to December 2026: collect bank statements, salary certificate or leave letter, and any family documents. Our documents checklist lists the full set.
- December 2026 to January 2027: book your appointment. If no dates show, join the official waitlist for that country rather than refreshing all day. See how waitlists work.
- January to February 2027: attend the appointment and give your biometrics. Book only refundable flights and hotels until your passport is back.
Families travelling together
Each family member needs their own application, and each child needs to attend for biometrics from the age the consulate sets. If a child travels with only one parent, prepare a consent letter from the other parent before the appointment. Our family booking guide and consent letter guide cover the details.
What FastSchengen does
We prepare your file, check it against the current requirements of your destination country, and book the earliest suitable appointment we can find. We cannot create appointments or influence the consulate’s decision, and nobody else can either. If you want to plan a spring trip now, start your application and tell us your dates.
Frequently asked questions
Can I apply now for a Schengen visa for Eid al-Fitr 2027?
Yes. You can lodge an application up to six months before you travel. For a departure around 6 March 2027, the window opened on 6 September 2026.
When do the 2027 spring break and Easter fall?
Easter Sunday is 28 March 2027. The UAE school spring break runs from 5 to 11 April 2027, with classes resuming on 12 April.
What is the latest date to apply for a spring break Schengen visa?
The official minimum is 15 days before travel, so 19 March 2027 for a 3 April departure. We suggest lodging by 20 February 2027 so that you have time for any request for extra documents.
Will visa centres be open during Ramadan?
Visa centres normally stay open during Ramadan, but hours can change. Check the notice for your destination’s centre before booking a February appointment.
Can one Schengen visa cover both Eid and the spring break?
Only if the consulate issues a visa valid for both periods. You can explain both trips in your cover letter, and travellers with a good history of previous Schengen visas are more likely to receive a longer multiple-entry visa, but the validity is always the consulate’s decision.
Do I need ETIAS for spring 2027?
No, not if you need a Schengen visa. ETIAS is only for visa-exempt travellers, and it is not yet in operation. See our ETIAS update.
